Strawberry Jam Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. strawberry jam
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Combine flour, salt, cream of tartar and soda.

    Set aside. Combine sugar, butter and lemon juice in a large mixing bowl. Cream until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Stir together jam and buttermilk.

    Add to cream mixture alternately with dry ingredients.

    Mix well. Spoon batter into 2 greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans.

    Bake at 350° for 55 minutes or until bread tests done.

    Let cool before removing from pans.
