  • 2 1/2 c. cooked green beans
  • 2 1/2 c. stewed tomatoes
  • 4 strips bacon
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped onions
  • 1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs

Directions

    Drain green beans and stewed tomatoes.

    Reserve liquid. Reduce liquid to 1 cup.

    Cut bacon into small pieces and fry until crisp.

    Add butter to bacon and fat.

    Blend in flour, sugar, salt and pepper.

    Add 1 cup liquid plus milk, chopped onions and the vegetables.

    Put in casserole, topped with buttered bread crumbs. Bake 30 minutes at 375°.
