- 12 large cabbage leaves
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 c. cooked rice
- 2 Tbsp. chopped onions
- 1 tsp. caraway seed
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 egg
- 3 Tbsp. oil
- 3 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1/2 c. water
Directions

1Blanch leaves in boiling salted water about 2 minutes; remove and drain.

2Combine next 7 ingredients.

3Divide mixture into 12 portions.

4Wrap each portion in a cabbage leaf and tie with string.

5In a large skillet or fryer, brown cabbage lightly in oil, adding more oil if needed.

6Reduce heat; add tomato sauce and water.

7Cover and cook for 45 minutes.
