Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients
- 12 cabbage leaves
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 1/4 lb. ground meat
- 1 c. cooked rice
- 1 small onion, chopped fine
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning or thyme
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar
Directions

1Cook the cabbage

2leaves until limp in boiling water; let cool.

3Combine the salt, pepper, ground meat, rice, onion, egg and poultry seasoning and place in leaf.

4Roll up.

5Use toothpicks if you have to.

6Put the oil in a large frying pan or Dutch oven. Put in the rolls.

7Pour the tomato sauce over the rolls.

8Combine the brown sugar, water and lemon juice and pour in over the rolls. Simmer, covered, 1 hour, basting occasionally. Add more tomato sauce, if you use chicken filling.

9Makes 6 servings.
