- 1 doz. medium clams
- 1 large carrot, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 small red pepper, chopped
- 2 sticks margarine, melted
- 1 small can bread crumbs
- 6 c. water
- 1/4 tsp. basil
- 1/4 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 c. clam broth
- bacon (optional)
Directions

1Steam clams in 6 cups water.

2Remove from shells and chop clams.

3Save shells.

4Save broth.
-
5In large bowl, put clams, 1 cup clam broth (water), carrot, onion, garlic, red pepper, margarine, bread crumbs, basil and Italian seasoning.

6If too dry, add more broth.

7Put in shells.
-
8Top with bacon, if desired.

9Bake at 300° for 1 hour or until lightly browned.
