Ingredients

  • 12 pecans or walnut halves
  • 24 pitted whole dates
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/3 c. packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/3 c. dairy sour cream

Directions

    Cut nuts in half lengthwise.

    Stuff in dates.

    Combine flour, baking powder and soda.

    Beat brown sugar and shortening on medium until well combined.

    Add flour and sour cream alternately.

    Gently stir in stuffed dates.

    Drop 1 date per cookie on greased cookie sheet.

    Bake at 375° for 7 to 9 minutes or until golden.

    Remove to rack to cool.

    Frost with Golden Frosting.
