Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients

  • 6 medium bell peppers
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1/3 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 lb. can tomatoes
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 c. sharp American cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 c. long grain rice

Directions

    Cut off top of peppers.

    Remove seeds.

    Put peppers in boiling, salted water for about 5 minutes.

    Drain.

    (For crisp peppers, omit precooking.)

    Sprinkle inside or peppers generously with salt. Cook beef and onion until brown, seasoned with salt and pepper. Add tomatoes, water, rice and Worcestershire sauce.

    Cover and simmer until rice is tender.

    Stir in cheese.

    Stuff peppers. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for about 20 to 25 minutes.
