Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients

  • 6 green peppers
  • 3/4 lb. ground turkey or beef
  • 1/2 c. fresh bread crumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten or 1/4 c. Egg Beaters
  • 3/4 tsp. salt (optional)
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 oz. tomato sauce
  • 6 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. mustard
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

Directions

    Cut tops from peppers and remove seeds and membranes.

    Cook for 4 or 5 minutes in boiling water; drain.

    Combine meat with the next 6 ingredients and mix well.

    Stuff into peppers.

    Combine all of the other ingredients to make a sauce and pour over peppers.

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Bake for an hour or until done.
