Ingredients

  • 2 c. or more green beans (fresh, frozen or canned)
  • 2 oz. salt pork or bacon drippings (optional, oil can be used)
  • 1 c. or more whole kernel corn (yellow or white, fresh, frozen or canned)
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/3 c. light cream (if cream sauce is desired)
  • 1 Tbsp. flour (if cream sauce is desired)

Directions

    In a saucepan combine all ingredients except cream and flour with 1/2 cup water.

    Cover and simmer 10 to 15 minutes or until done.

    Remove salt pork if used.

    Slowly blend in cream and flour; stir well.

    Cook and stir until thickened (if cream sauce is desired).
