  • 1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in a little hot water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour

Directions

    Combine all ingredients.

    Roll dough out on a floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness.

    Cut with cookie cutter and bake at 350° for about 10 minutes or until bottom of cookie is lightly browned.
