  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 c. cooking oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 c. plus 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Cream shortening with sugars; beat in oil until well blended. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

    Sift flour with soda, cream of tartar and salt.

    Stir in cream mixture.

    Chill dough.

    Shape into balls size of walnut.

    Press down with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350° until set or light brown.
