Sugar-Crusted Maple Cake

- 1 pkg. yellow cake mix
- 1 1/3 c. water
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. maple syrup
Directions

1Preheat oven to 325°.

2Using solid shortening, grease and flour 12-cup fluted tube pan (nonstick finish too).

3In large bowl blend cake mix, water and eggs.

4Beat 2 minutes at highest speed.

5Pour into prepared pan.

6Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

7In small saucepan, heat sugar and syrup until mixture boils and sugar is melted.

8Pour over hot cake.

9Cool upright in pan 15 minutes.

10Turn onto serving plate. Serve warm or cool.
