Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sirloin steak
  • 2 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 1/2 c. beef broth (dissolve 1 beef bouillon cube in 1/2 c. boiling water)
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/3 c. soy sauce
  • 1 lb. mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 4 green onions, cut in 1-inch lengths
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 stalks celery, diagonally sliced
  • 1 (5 oz.) can bamboo shoots, drained
  • 3 c. washed, trimmed fresh spinach
  • 3 c. hot cooked rice

    Cut steak across the grain into 1/4-inch strips, about 2 inches long.

    In large skillet or wok, brown meat in oil.

    Push meat to one section of skillet.

    Stir in beef broth, sugar and soy sauce.

    Place mushrooms, green onions, onions, celery and bamboo shoots in separate section of skillet.

    (Do not mix.)

    Cover; simmer 10 minutes.

    Add spinach; simmer 5 minutes longer.

    Serve over rice.

    If desired, pass additional soy sauce.
