- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 yeast cake or 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- plain flour
Directions

1Let milk, sugar and shortening come almost to a boil.

2Let cool to lukewarm.

3While cooling, add yeast to lukewarm water.

4When 1st mixture is warm, add yeast mixture.

5Add enough flour to make a batter (like cake batter).

6Set aside for 2 hours to let rise. Then add salt, baking powder, soda and enough flour make a dough that you can handle (not too much).

7Put in large bowl and put in refrigerator or make rolls and let rise 2 hours before baking. Bake at 450° to 475° until done.
