  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. cake flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

    Beat 4 egg yolks and 3 tablespoons cold water together.

    Add the sugar gradually; beat well.

    Add 1/2 cup boiling water; beat until foamy.

    Sift 3 times the cake flour, baking powder and salt; add this to egg yolks.

    Beat well.

    Add the almond extract and vanilla.

    Beat egg whites with the cream of tartar until stiff; fold into mixture.

    Bake for 1 hour at 325°.

    Add your desired frosting.
