Ingredients
- 3/4 lb. chuck roast, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/2 c. carrots, sliced
- 1/2 c. cabbage, coarsely chopped
- 1 medium potato, cubed
- 1/2 green pepper
- 1/2 c. sliced celery
- 1 can chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 c. soy sauce
- 1/2 c. pearl barley
- 1 tsp. basil
Directions

1Stir-fry meat, onion, pepper and celery (use tenderizer on meat if necessary).

2Add carrots, cabbage, potato and tomatoes.

3Cook until meat is tender.

4Add barley and basil.

5Simmer until barley is tender.

6Serve hot with salad and a simple dessert.
