Swedish Meat Balls

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 lb. lean pork
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. mashed potatoes
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • pinch of ginger
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 c. water or stock
  • 6 Tbsp. flour

Directions

    Grind meat and onion together three times.

    Add egg, potatoes, seasoning and milk.

    Mix well and form into small balls.

    Brown on all sides in heavy skillet.

    Remove meat balls and add water and flour.

    Stir over low heat until thick.

    Place meat balls and gravy in casserole and bake 1/2 hour at 300°.
