  • 1 1/2 c. blanched almonds
  • 2 c. pecan halves
  • 1 c. sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 2 stiffly beaten eggs whites
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine

    Toast almonds and pecans in slow oven (325°) until light brown.

    Fold sugar and salt into egg whites.

    Beat until stiff peaks form.

    Fold nuts into meringue.

    Melt butter in a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan; spread nut mixture over butter. Bake in slow oven (325°) about 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, or until nuts are coated with a brown covering and no butter remains in pan.
