  • 1 lb. unsalted pecan halves
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 slightly beaten egg whites

Directions

    Toast nuts in slow oven (325°) until light brown.

    (Do not overtoast.)

    Fold sugar and salt into slightly beaten egg whites and beat until stiff peaks form.

    Fold nuts into mixture.

    Melt butter in a 15 x 10 x 2-inch pan.

    Spread mixture over butter. Bake at 325° for 30 minutes.

    Stir often until there is no more butter.
