Swedish Rye Bread

Ingredients
- 2 c. water
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. molasses
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. sifted rye flour
- 4 c. white flour
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 tsp. Crisco
Directions

1Heat water.

2Melt sugar, salt, molasses and Crisco.

3Add yeast to mixture when mixture is lukewarm.

4(Too hot will kill yeast.) Add rye and white flour.

5Knead until dough does not stick to board or

6hands.

7Put in pan and let rise to double in size. Knead down and divide into thirds.

8Shape into loaves and let rise to double in size, then bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes.

9Cool on rack so air can circulate around bread.

10Raisins can be added if you choose.

11This bread has a strong molasses rye flavor.

12It does not rise very high so don't expect a huge loaf.
