  • 2 gal. cucumbers, cut in 3/4-inch rounds
  • boiling water
  • 1 teacup salt
  • 1 Tbsp. powdered alum

    Put cucumbers in stone jar or glass.

    Pour over them 1 gallon boiling water with 1 teacup salt dissolved.

    Let stand 8 days. On the 8th day,

    drain off water and wash good. Then pour over gallon boiling water and let stand 24 hours.
