- 7 lb. cucumbers
- 2 c. slack lime
- water
- 8 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. celery seed
- 2 qt. vinegar
- 1 tsp. whole clove
- 1 tsp. pickling spice
Directions

1Wash and slice cucumbers in 1-inch slices.

2Dissolve 2 cups slack lime in 2 quarts water and add 2 gallons more water.

3Put pickles in mixture and let stand 24 hours.

4Rinse several times in cold water and let stand 3 hours in cold ice water.

5Drain well and put into mixture.

6Bring to a boil sugar, salt, celery seed, vinegar, whole clove and pickling spice and boil 35 minutes or until clear.

7Put in clear, sterilized jars and seal.

8You may use your larger cucumbers if not bitter.
