- 1 gal. jar full 1/4 inch cucumber slices
- 1 c. coarse salt and cold water
- 2 Tbsp. alum
- cider vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. pickling spices
- 9 c. sugar
Directions

1Cover cucumber slices with alum and water for 24 hours; drain. Cover with vinegar and pickling spices for 24 hours.

2Drain off vinegar and spice.

3Add 3 cups of sugar for 3 days each.

4Turn jar upside down and shake occasionally to dissolve sugar.

5Pickles may be stored in this jar.

6Cover tightly.

7There will be almost enough liquid to cover pickles.
