Ingredients
- 1/2 lb greens; turnip, mustard or collard
- 2 slices bacon
- 4 tsp all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup hot water
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp cider vinegar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- dash of pepper
Directions

1Discard stems of greens and any damaged portions.

2Thoroughly wash greens in cool water to remove dirt and sand particles.

3Cut or tear leaves into small pieces.

4In covered saucepan, cook greens in large amount of boiling salted water till tender, about 60 to 75 minutes.

5Drain well and rinse.

6In skillet, cook bacon until crisp.

7Remove bacon, reserving drippings in skillet. Crumble bacon and set aside.

8Blend flour into drippings.

9Add hot water; cook and stir till thickened and bubbly.

10Stir in sugar, cider vinegar, salt and pepper.

11Stir in drained, cooked greens; heat thoroughly.

12Garnish with crumbled bacon.
