- 3 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. scalded milk
- 1 c. butter
- 6 slightly beaten eggs
- 9 c. flour
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Scald 2 cups of milk.

3Add the salt, sugar and the soft butter.

4Stir as it cools so sugar will not settle on the bottom of the pan.

5Add yeast.

6Add 4 1/2 cups flour. Add the slightly beaten eggs to mixture.

7Add more flour; knead it. Let rise in bowl for 1 hour.

8Punch down; let rise for 1/2 hour, then braid it and let the bread rise.

9Smaller loaves are easier to bake.

10Small loaves take 20 to 30 minutes.

11Freezes well.
