Ingredients
- 2 lb. beef round steak (1-inch thick)
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. onion, chopped
- 1 lb. can tomatoes, cut up
- 2 Tbsp. green pepper, chopped
Directions

1Combine flour, salt and pepper; pound into meat.

2In large skillet, brown meat on both sides in hot shortening.

3Top with onion and tomatoes.

4Cover; cook over low heat about 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

5Or, transfer to a 12 x 7 x 2-inch baking dish and cook covered at 350° for 1 1/2 hours.

6Add green pepper; cook 15 minutes more.

7Skim off excess fat.

8Thicken juices, if desired.

9Season to taste.
