Ingredients
- 1/4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 lb. round steak, cut in serving pieces
- 1 garlic clove (if desired)
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 1/3 c. Spry or Crisco
- 1/2 c. cooked rice
- 2 c. canned tomatoes
- 2 c. hot water
Directions

1Mix flour with salt, pepper and paprika.

2Rub steak with garlic and roll in seasoned flour.

3Brown onions lightly in melted Spry.

4Remove onions.

5Sear meat quickly on both sides (not brown) and put in casserole, greased with Spry.

6Place onions, rice and tomatoes on top of meat.

7Add remainder of flour mixture to Spry in skillet and blend until smooth.

8Add hot water gradually and cook until smooth.

9Strain over meat in casserole.

10Cook covered in moderate oven for 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.

11Serves 6.
