  • 1 c. syrup or sorghum
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 egg
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves

    Cream butter.

    Add syrup, egg and sifted dry ingredients. Chill.

    Turn out on floured board and roll 1/4-inch thick.

    Cut out and place on greased baking sheet.

    Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350°.
