- Soak 1/2 pound of peeled, split dried fava beans in water, overnight
- 1 garlic clove, chopped
- 3/4 cup chopped parsley
- Green tops of 1/2 bunch scallions, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
Directions

1Drain beans, and place in a food processor with garlic, puree until ground.

2Add parsley, scallions, cumin, baking powder, salt and cilantro.

3Pulse and process until thoroughly ground and the mixture comes together.

4Turn out into a bowl, wet hands, and form into 2-inch balls.

5Flatten each ball slightly and roll in toasted sesame seeds.

6Place on a pan, cover, and refrigerate until you are ready to fry.

7In a saucepan heat 2 inches of vegetable oil to 365 degrees.

8Drop a few ta'miyya into the oil and fry until golden brown, 5 to 8 minutes.

9Drain on paper towels and serve with tehina as an appetizer.

10Or stuff them with chopped lettuce and tehina into pita for lunch.
