Ingredients

  • 1 (5 1/4 ounce) package Near East taboule wheat salad
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 -3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large tomatoes, chopped
  • 14 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 12 bunch fresh parsley, chopped
  • 12 red onions or 12 white onion, diced
  • 12 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • romaine lettuce leaf, if desired

Directions

    In large bowl, combine wheat salad mix and contents of Spice Sack.

    Stir in 1 cup boiling water and oil.

    Let stand 30 minutes.

    Stir in fresh basil, fresh parsley, onion, garlic, lemon juice, and salt (if desired).

    Fold in tomatoes.

    Cover; chill for at least 2 hours or overnight before serving.

    Serve as a side dish, a light lunch, or on a bed of romaine lettuce.

    Sprinke with freshly ground pepper, if desired.
