Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 lb 2 oz (500g) ground round
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1tsp dried oregano
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 12 crisp taco shells
  • Shredded iceberg lettuce
  • Shredded Cheddar
  • Tomato salsa
  • Jalapeno peppers
  • Sour cream

Directions

    Heat the oil in a frying pan.

    Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring, for 3 minutes.

    Add the beef and brown, about 8 minutes.

    Drain off fat.

    Stir in the chili powder and oregano, tomato paste, and 1/2 cup water.

    Simmer until thickened, for 10 minutes.

    Season.

    Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 300F (150C).

    Bake the shells on a sheet for 4 minutes.

    Spoon the meat into the shells.
