Ingredients

  • 1 lb. powdered sugar
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1/4 c. butter or oleo
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. corn syrup
  • 1 Tbsp. glycerine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Put sugar and water in saucepan.

    Stir until sugar is moistened.

    Add other ingredients.

    Cook 270° or soft crack stage. Do not stir candy while cooking.

    Pour in shallow buttered pan. Cool enough to handle.

    Take about 2 tablespoons of candy and pull until white and porous; make 1/2-inch rope.

    Cut with shears. Makes 1 1/2 pounds candy.
