  • 1 quart whole or 2% milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup tapioca granules
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp to 1 teaspoon vanilla

    in a heavy 2 quart saucepan beat sugar, salt, and eggs together well.

    add milk & tapioca, mix well with the other ingredients.

    over medium-high heat, bring almost to a boil.

    stir constantly to avoid scorching.

    when it starts to thicken, remove from heat.

    add vanilla.

    chill.
