- 1 lb lentils
- 2 pints water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 dried red chilies
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seed
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 garlic clove, sliced
Directions

1Wash lentils till the water runs clear.

2Drain the lentils.

3Place lentils in pan with the water, salt, turmeric, onion, garlic and chillis.

4Cook till the lentils are soft and sloppy.

5Heat the oil in a separate pan, fry the cumin seeds till they start to pop, add the garlic and cook 30 seconds.

6Serve the lentils with the fried garlic and cumin seeds poured over them.
