- 2 c. sifted flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. milk
Directions

1Sift together the first 4 ingredients.

2Cut in shortening until mixture is like coarse crumbs.

3Add milk all at once.

4Stir with fork to ball stage. Knead lightly, about 10 times. Roll or pat dough 1/2 to 1-inch thick. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 450°. Makes 16 medium biscuits.
