Ingredients

  • 5 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 3 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 3/4 c. shortening

Directions

    Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening.

    Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add buttermilk and water to dry ingredients. Mix and roll into a ball. Cover tightly and place in refrigerator. When ready to bake, dip in melted butter and bake at 350° for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
