  • 1 lb. ground beef (lean)
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine or oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 can kidney beans (20 oz. size)
  • 2 c. tomatoes (fresh)
  • 8 oz. can seasoned tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • dash of paprika

Directions

    Brown meat, onion and green pepper in the meat fat.

    Drain off the fat; add beans, tomatoes, sauce, bay leaf and seasonings. Cook below boiling for 1/2 hour.

    Tastes better if made the day before and reheated.
