Ingredients

  • 1 c. margarine
  • 1 c. water
  • 4 rounded Tbsp. cocoa
  • 2 c. sugar (granulated)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. milk, soured with 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • 6 Tbsp. milk
  • 2 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Grease and flour 18 x 12 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.

    Melt together 1 cup margarine, water and the first measurement of cocoa; bring to boil (can be done in microwave).

    Using wire whisk, blend the granulated sugar, salt, flour, baking soda, eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla and soured milk.

    Blend into first mixture. Pour onto pan; bake at 350° for 20 minutes.

    While cake bakes, prepare icing.
