- 1 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Omit baking soda and salt if you use self-rising flour.

2Boil the raisins and water for 5 minutes.

3Cream together the egg, sugar and butter.

4Mix all together and then mix the raisins, water and creamed ingredients.

5Mix in the sifted dry ingredients.

6Put batter in 4 well-greased soup cans or 2 (1 pound) coffee cans. Bake at 325° for 1 hour.
