Tin Can Raisin Bread

  • 1 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

    Omit baking soda and salt if you use self-rising flour.

    Boil the raisins and water for 5 minutes.

    Cream together the egg, sugar and butter.
  4. 4
    Mix all together and then mix the raisins, water and creamed ingredients.

    Mix in the sifted dry ingredients.

    Put batter in 4 well-greased soup cans or 2 (1 pound) coffee cans. Bake at 325° for 1 hour.
