- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 lb. (2 sticks) butter (do not substitute)
- 3 Tbsp. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 6 milk chocolate bars
- Chopped pecans or almonds
Directions

1Combine ingredients and stir over medium heat to boiling. Boil until very thick and mixture pulls away from sides of pan and bottom just begins to scorch.

2Remove from heat and dribble test by dropping a 1/2 tsp. of toffee on a dish.

3If it quickly hardens, it is ready.

4If not, return to heat for 30 seconds and repeat.
