Toffee Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter, at room temperature
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 6 regular size Hershey bars
  • 2/3 c. finely chopped nuts

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Cream butter, sugar and egg yolk together.

    Add flour gradually, stirring with spoon until well blended.

    Spread dough in a lightly greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.

    (Make sure sides are at least an inch deep or dough will overflow.)

    Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes until medium brown.

    Immediately after removing from oven, split Hershey bars 3 or 4 ways and distribute over top of dough evenly.

    When melted, spread evenly.

    Sprinkle with nuts.

    When cool, cut into diamonds by slicing diagonally.
