  • 1 lb. real butter
  • 1 lb. brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. chopped almonds
  • 8 plain Hershey bars, unwrapped

Directions

    In a heavy saucepan melt butter and sugar.

    Stir constantly until candy thermometer reaches 290° (watch carefully to prevent scorching).

    Remove from heat; add soda and stir.

    Pour in a thin ribbon quickly over 2 cookie sheets.
  5. 5
    Immediately top with Hershey bars, they soften and can be spread with a spatula.

    Cool and chocolate hardens.

    Break into pieces.

    Store in an airtight container.
