Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
  • chopped nuts

Directions

    Mix all ingredients, except chocolate bits and nuts, and put in large pan.

    Mixture is crumbly.

    Bake in slow oven at 325° for 15 to 20 minutes.

    Then melt chocolate bits and pour over top while cookies are still warm.

    Sprinkle with chopped nuts.

    Do not cut until cold.
