  • 1/2 c. butter or oleo
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg yolk (unbeaten)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 (6 oz.) bag chocolate chips

Directions

    Cream together butter, shortening, brown sugar and egg yolk. Stir in vanilla, salt and flour.

    Pat mixture into a 10 x 15 x 1-inch pan.

    Bake in a slow oven (325°) for 15 to 20 minutes. Melt chocolate and spread over warm, baked mixture.

    Sprinkle with chopped nuts.

    Cut into squares.
