Ingredients: 1/2 c. butter or oleo; 1/2 c. shortening; 1 c. brown sugar, packed; 1 egg yolk (unbeaten); 1 tsp. vanilla; 1/2 tsp. salt; 2 c. sifted flour; 1/2 c. chopped nuts; 1 (6 oz.) bag chocolate chips

1/2 c. butter or oleo
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg yolk (unbeaten)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 (6 oz.) bag chocolate chips

Directions

Cream together butter, shortening, brown sugar and egg yolk. Stir in vanilla, salt and flour.

Pat mixture into a 10 x 15 x 1-inch pan.

Bake in a slow oven (325°) for 15 to 20 minutes. Melt chocolate and spread over warm, baked mixture.

Sprinkle with chopped nuts.

Cut into squares.
