Ingredients

  • 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter of margarine, softened
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened flaked coconut (optional)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Lightly grease 13 x 9 inch baking pan.

    In large bowl, mix together the brown sugar and flour.

    Use a pastry cutter or 2 knives to cut butter into mixture until it is course crumbs.

    Remove 1 cup of mixture, set aside.
