Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped onions
  • 2/3 cup chopped celery
  • 2 (14 ounce) cans tomatoes
  • 6 cups grated cabbage
  • 1 cup green beans, cut into bits
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced carrots
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup chili sauce (depending on whether you like it spicy!)
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 8 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons beef bouillon
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon basil

    Melt butter in large pot.

    Saute onions and celery until soft.

    Add remaining ingredients.

    Bring to a boil, stirring often.

    Cover and boil slowly until veggies are tender.
