- 2 (16 oz.) cans peeled whole tomatoes
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 Tbsp. margarine
- 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 2 or 3 slices bread, crumbled
- 3/4 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
Directions

1Put the tomatoes and onion in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Add margarine, sugar, salt and oregano.

2Reduce heat to medium and cook for 5 minutes.

3Add bread and stir.

4Pour into a 1 1/2-quart lightly greased casserole dish.

5Top with grated cheese.

6Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted.
