Tomato Dumplings

- 1 qt. tomatoes (fresh or canned)
- butter
- sugar
- evaporated milk
- basil (optional)
- dumplings
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Skin tomatoes if fresh.

2Place in large skillet on top burner at medium heat.

3Bring to a boil.

4Add sugar to taste (some days I like less, sometimes more) approximately 1/2 to 3/4 cup.

5Cook until it becomes thick and clear; add lump of butter, size of walnut (about 3 tablespoons).

6Add dumplings and continue to cook until done.

7Add seasonings (salt, pepper and basil).

8Remove from fire and stir in a drizzle of evaporated milk (1/4 to 1/2 cup).
