- 1 loaf Italian bread (slightly stale is best)
- 5 to 6 ripe tomatoes, sliced
- 1 lb. Swiss cheese, shredded
- 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 c. fresh basil, chopped
- 3 to 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- salt and pepper
- olive oil
Directions

1In a medium size casserole dish, oiled with olive oil, place a layer of sliced bread.

2Drizzle it with olive oil.

3Place tomato slices on the bread (slices should be fairly thick). Sprinkle with cheeses, herbs, salt and pepper.

4Continue layering bread and tomatoes until casserole is full, with the last layer being bread. Drizzle oil on top layer. Top with cheeses.

5Bake at 350° until cheese is melted and casserole is hot.
