- 10 (6-inch) corn or flour tortillas
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. ground red pepper
- shortening or cooking oil for deep frying
Directions

1Cut tortillas into 1/2-inch strips.

2Set aside.

3Combine salt, cumin and red pepper.

4Place in a shaker.

5In a large saucepan or deep-fat fryer, heat about 1 1/2 inches of shortening.

6Fry small batches of tortilla strips in hot oil for 1/2 to 1 1/2 minutes or until golden brown.

7Remove strips and drain on paper towels. Immediately shake some of the seasoning mixture over hot strips. Store tightly covered.
